Abstract
Abstract: Collections of fossils from Moroto, Uganda, contain remains of a small lophodont suoid unlike any of the known species from Africa or Eurasia. The specimens are more complete than previously described material from Muruyur, Maboko and Kirimun (Kenya) and allow the affinities of this suoid to be determined with reasonable confidence. It is concluded that the fossils represent a new genus and species of schizochoerine tayassuid, s. The four sites from wh. The four sites from which these fossils were collected are low in the Middle Miocene, ranging in age between 17 and 15 Ma. An edentulous snout from Ngorora late in the Middle Miocene, ca 12 Ma, is tentatively assigned to this lineage.
